Boss GT-1000
The Boss GT-1000, introduced in 2018, is Boss's flagship floor-based guitar and bass processor, combining AIRD amplifier modeling, a large library of Boss effects, flexible routing, and extensive performance control in a rugged touring format.
Amp Models
The GT-1000 uses Boss's AIRD, or Augmented Impulse Response Dynamics, technology to model the interaction between an amplifier and its output destination. The library combines original Boss designs with voices inspired by familiar amplifier categories:
- Clean and edge-of-breakup combos suited to sounds associated with amplifiers such as the Fender Twin Reverb.
- British crunch and lead models that cover territory associated with designs such as the Vox AC30 and Marshall JCM800.
- Modern high-gain voices for tight rhythm and saturated lead sounds.
- MDP-based X amps that use adaptive processing to extend dynamics and frequency response beyond conventional analog circuits.
- Dedicated bass preamps and processing, allowing the same unit to serve guitarists and bassists.
Two amp blocks can run at once for channel switching, blending, or stereo rigs. AIRD Output Select settings adapt the response for a direct PA or full-range monitor, a guitar amplifier input, a power amp and cabinet, or several destinations at the same time.
Effects
The GT-1000 includes 185 effect types, ranging from long-running Boss compact-pedal sounds to modulation, pitch, delay, and reverb algorithms developed for the company's 500-series pedals. Multi-Dimensional Processing effects respond dynamically to the input signal, while series and parallel paths allow complex rigs to be assembled without forcing every block into one chain. The Stompbox feature lets a favorite effect setup be shared across multiple patches instead of edited separately in each one.

- 32-bit analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion, 32-bit floating-point processing, and a 96 kHz sample rate throughout.
- 250 user patches and 250 preset patches with fast switching and delay or reverb carryover.
- Ten assignable footswitches, an integrated expression pedal, and user-configurable LED colors.
- Main quarter-inch outputs, independent XLR sub outputs, two effects loops, MIDI, external control connections, and USB audio/MIDI.
- Bluetooth editing from the mobile Boss Tone Studio app and USB editing from the desktop software.
- Sixteen user slots for WAV-format speaker impulse responses.
- A dedicated bass mode with bass-specific preamps and effects.
Players
The GT-1000 is used by touring guitarists who need detailed control without carrying separate switching, effects, and amplifier systems. Nita Strauss has demonstrated the GT-1000 platform in professional stage rigs, while the unit's bass mode, independent outputs, and configurable footswitches also make it practical for theater, cover-band, session, and fly-date work.
Legacy
The Boss GT-1000 marked Boss's move from the COSM era into AIRD-based modeling and high-resolution processing. It also became the foundation for the smaller GT-1000CORE, extending the same processing platform to hybrid pedalboards where space is limited.
