Privacy Policy for AnalogDAW

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Overview

AnalogDAW ("the App") is a multitrack recording, editing, and mixing studio for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data.

The short version: AnalogDAW does not collect, store, or share any personal information. Your recordings, sessions, and settings stay on your device or in the storage you choose — the developer never has access to them.

Data Collection

AnalogDAW does not collect any personal data. The App does not:

  • Collect names, email addresses, or contact information
  • Track your location
  • Access your contacts or calendar
  • Use analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry services
  • Transmit any data to developer-controlled servers
  • Use advertising networks or third-party trackers
  • Require an account, login, or network connection to function

The App's bundled privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types, which produces a "Data Not Collected" label on the App Store.

Data Storage

AnalogDAW is a document-based app. Everything you create — sessions, audio recordings, clips, takes, markers, automation, mixer settings, snapshots, and templates — is saved into self-contained .analog session packages.

You choose where those packages live when you create or save a session, using the system file interface:

  • On your device — the local storage on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad.
  • In the Files app or your own iCloud Drive — if you pick an iCloud Drive location, your sessions sync through your personal Apple account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to your iCloud Drive contents.
  • Any other location you select — such as an external drive or a third-party storage provider surfaced through the Files app.

The App reads and writes only the locations and files you explicitly choose. No session, recording, or backup is ever sent to any server controlled by the developer. The App does not use a developer-managed cloud service.

Permissions

Microphone and audio input

Because AnalogDAW records audio, it requests access to your microphone and audio interface. This permission is used solely to capture audio into the session you are recording. Audio is written only to your session packages in the location you chose; it is never transmitted anywhere by the App. If you decline microphone access, you can still play instruments, import audio, edit, and mix — you simply can't record from a microphone or interface input.

Files

To open, import, and save, the App uses the standard system document picker — a system-provided interface where you explicitly select files or locations. The App only accesses the items you choose.

Audio Unit plug-ins and MIDI instruments

AnalogDAW can host Audio Unit (AUv3 on iOS; AUv2/AUv3 on macOS) effects and instruments that you have installed, and can receive notes from a connected MIDI controller to perform hosted instruments live. These features run locally on your device. The App does not collect information about your installed plug-ins or MIDI devices, and does not transmit any of it.

What the App does not access

AnalogDAW does not request access to your camera, location, contacts, photos, or media library.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted with a revised "Last updated" date.
