AnalogDAW Strips Support & Known Limitations
For help, contact Jason Shimkoski. Include your device, operating system, Strips version/build, host name/version, the effect and preset involved, and steps that reproduce the problem. Mention whether it also happens in the standalone app. Send only files or screenshots you choose to share.
The effects do not appear in my host
Launch the installed AnalogDAW Strips app once, then restart the host or refresh its Audio Unit list. Check that it supports AUv3 effects and that the device runs macOS 15+ or iOS/iPadOS 18+. On Mac, remove duplicate development installations from your host's discovery path using your normal app-management workflow; keep a single installed app copy.
Strips does not provide VST, VST3, AAX or AUv2 versions. Availability and effect browser organization depend on the host.
I hear silence or an unexpected level
Check the source track, host input/output routing, track mute, effect bypass and Output gain. In the standalone app, select an audio source and press Audition. For an Aux return, confirm that the source sends audio to it and that the intended wet effect is enabled. A 100% wet signal is designed to blend with a separate dry path in the host.
The standalone listening trim is after the plug-in meters. A similar meter reading can therefore sound quieter in standalone auditioning than in your host. Compare bypass at a matched perceived level.
External sidechain does not respond
The host must enable and feed the additional sidechain input. Selecting External Sidechain in the effect alone does not connect a source. The editor disables the switch when that input is not enabled; missing key audio falls back to detection from the main input. Both gate and compressor share the instance's key source. See external sidechains.
Sidechain support varies by host and version. The standalone player has no external sidechain routing. Strips installation does not update your host or add routing controls to it.
Presets or settings are missing
The standalone app and each hosted extension have separate local user preset libraries. Save the host project for instance recall; saving a user preset in the app does not synchronize it to the extension. Current schema-6 states retain parameters, role and processor order. Earlier unreleased development states are not migrated.
Latency, formats and meters
- Main input and output must match: mono or stereo Float32, 8–192 kHz. Surround and multi-output layouts are not supported.
- Channel and Bus report zero algorithmic latency. Master reports approximately 4.5 ms even in bypass, so host compensation remains stable.
- Reordering is saved in host state, rather than exposed as continuous automation.
- Delay time is manual milliseconds; there is no tempo sync.
- Reverb has seven fixed spaces and Wet, without decay or pre-delay controls.
- Meter reset waits for the next audio render block. Resume auditioning if stopped.
- True-peak and loudness meters have generated-signal checks; full EBU/ITU certification is not claimed. Verify your final export for delivery.
Standalone playback stops
Switching strips or leaving the active app stops auditioning. On iPhone and iPad, audio interruptions, media-service resets and memory warnings can also stop it. Serious or critical thermal pressure prevents auditioning until the device cools. Hosted effects do not silently change their sound to respond to thermal warnings.
How Strips relates to AnalogDAW
Strips supplies Channel, Bus and Master effects to an AUv3 host. It does not include AnalogDAW's multitrack timeline, recording workflow, sends, export tools or Mastering Assistant. Your host supplies those facilities. For the recording studio, use the separate AnalogDAW guide.
